howdidthatgetplanning.ie ("we", "us") is a small Irish website that lets you explore historical planning application data. This page explains what personal data we collect and how we use it.

What we collect

• Email address — only if you sign up to hear about new features. We store it, with the signup date, in a private spreadsheet hosted by Google. We use it solely to send occasional updates about this site and never sell or share it for marketing.
• Usage analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, general location, device type). Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data on our behalf.
• Technical logs — our hosting provider (Render) and our own server process IP addresses briefly for security and rate-limiting. We do not link these to you.

What we don't collect

Map pins, assessment inputs and results are processed to answer your request and are not stored against any identity. We don't ask for your name, address or account details.

Who we share data with

Google (Sheets and Analytics) and Render (hosting) process data on our behalf. We don't sell personal data to anyone.

How long we keep it

Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' standard retention settings.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data at any time. To unsubscribe or exercise any right, email paulcondon.inis@gmail.com and we'll action it promptly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission.
